AcipHex

AcipHex (ra-BE-pray-zole) is used to treat certain conditions in which there is too much acid in the stomach. It is used to treat duodenal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which the acid in the stomach washes back up into the esophagus. AcipHex is also used to treat Zollinger-Ellison disease, a condition in which the stomach produces too much acid. Sometimes AcipHex is used along with antibiotics to treat ulcers associated with infection caused by the H. pylori bacteria (germ). AcipHex works by decreasing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. AcipHex is available only with your doctor's prescription. Oral Delayed-release tablet (U.S.)

AcipHex comes as a delayed-release (long-acting) tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day for 4 to 8 weeks, but it is sometimes taken for a longer time. When taken for ulcers, AcipHex should be taken after the morning meal. When taken in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pyloriSwallow the tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them.
