Ditropan (ox-i-BYOO-ti-nin) belongs to the group of medicines called antispasmodics. It helps decrease muscle spasms of the bladder and the frequent urge to urinate caused by these spasms.
Ditropan is used to relieve urinary and bladder difficulties, including frequent urination and inability to control urination. It also helps to decrease muscle spasms of the bladder. Ditropan is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Ditropan comes as a tablet and a syrup. Ditropan usually is taken two or three times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Ditropan exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Ditropan usually is taken with water on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours after or 1 hour before meals.
