Leflunomide

Leflunomide (le-FLUN-o-mide) is used to relieve some symptoms caused by rheumatoid arthritis, such as inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain. Leflunomide works by stopping the body from producing too many of the immune cells that are responsible for the swelling and inflammation. Leflunomide is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form(s): Oral Tablets (U.S.)

Leflunomide is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Leflunomide decreases the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and slows damage to joints caused by the disease. Leflunomide is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Leflunomide comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. You will need to take a larger dose for the first 3 days of treatment. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Leflunomide exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
