Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide is used to treat symptoms of depression. Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide is in a class of medications called tricyclic antidepressants. It works by increasing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain.
Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken one to four times a day. To help you remember to take Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide, take it around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will probably start you on a low dose of Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide and gradually increase your dose. It may take a few weeks or longer before you feel the full benefit of Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide. Continue to take Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide without talking to your doctor. Stopping Limbitrol containing amitriptyline and chlordiazepoxide suddenly may cause withdrawal symptoms (upset stomach, headache, and lack of energy). Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually. |
