Mepron

Mepron ( a-TOE-va-kwone) is used to treat and to prevent Pneumocystis carinii (noo-moe-SISS-tis ) pneumonia (PCP), a very serious kind of pneumonia. This particular kind of pneumonia occurs commonly in patients whose immune systems are not working normally, such as cancer patients, transplant patients, and patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). Mepron is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form: Oral Oral suspension (U.S.) Tablets (Canada)

Mepron is used to treat Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). Mepron is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Mepron comes as a liquid to take by mouth. It usually is taken with food every 8 hours for 21 days. Always take Mepron with snacks or meals. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Mepron exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
