Mobic (mel-OX-i-kam) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve some symptoms of arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, such as inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain. However, Mobic does not cure arthritis and will help you only as long as you continue to take it. Mobic is used to relieve the pain, tenderness, inflammation (swelling), and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis. Mobic is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation. Mobic comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. To help you remember to take Mobic, take it around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Mobic exactly as directed.
