Proloprim (trye-METH-oh-prim) is used to treat infections of the urinary tract. It may also be used for other problems as determined by your doctor. It will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections. Proloprim is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form: Oral Tablets (U.S. and Canada)
Proloprim eliminates bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. It is used in combination with other drugs to treat certain types of pneumonia. It also is used to treat 'travelers' diarrhea.' Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. Proloprim is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Proloprim comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken one or two times a day. Proloprim may be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your pharmacist or doctor to explain any part you do not understand. Take Proloprim exactly as directed.
