Rythmol

Rythmol ( proe-pa-FEEN-none) belongs to the group of medicines known as antiarrhythmics. It is used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. Rythmol produces its helpful effects by slowing nerve impulses in the heart and making the heart tissue less sensitive. There is a chance that Rythmol may cause new heart rhythm problems or make worse those that already exist. Since similar medicines have been shown to cause severe problems in some patients, Rythmol is only used to treat serious heart rhythm problems. Discuss this possible effect with your doctor. Rythmol is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form: Oral Extended-release tablets (U.S.) Tablets (U.S. and Canada)

Rythmol is used to treat arrhythmias and to maintain a normal heart rate. It acts on the heart muscle to improve the heart's rhythm.

Rythmol comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken every 8 hours. Rythmol is sometimes started in the hospital where your response can be monitored. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Rythmol exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Rythmol controls irregular heartbeats, but does not cure them. Continue to take Rythmol even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Rythmol without talking to your doctor. Your heartbeat may become irregular if you suddenly stop taking Rythmol.
