Serophene (KLOE-mi-feen) is used as a fertility medicine in some women who are unable to become pregnant. Serophene probably works by changing the hormone balance of the body. In women, this causes ovulation to occur and prepares the body for pregnancy. Serophene may also be used for other conditions in both females and males as determined by your doctor. The following information applies only to female patients taking Serophene. Check with your doctor if you are a male and have any questions about the use of Serophene. Serophene is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage form: Oral Tablets (U.S. and Canada)
Serophene is used to induce ovulation (egg production) in women who do not produce ova (eggs) but wish to become pregnant. Serophene is in a class of medications called ovulatory stimulants. It works similarly to estrogen, a female hormone that causes eggs to develop in the ovaries and be released. Serophene comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day for 5 days, beginning on or about day 5 of the cycle. To help you remember to take Serophene, take it around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Serophene exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Brand names: - Clomid - Clomiphene - Milophene - Serophene |
